    Why Would My Filter Housing Have No Water In It?

    Your Whole House Filter is connected directly to the Main Water Supply. If the Main Water Supply is Turned Off you will have no water flowing into your system. Verify your Main Water Supply is turned on and there is water.

    This particular Whole House Filter has a built in "By-Pass" so that you can turn off the water supply to make changing filters easier. If the "By-Pass" Valve is Turned to Off switch the Valve back to the on position.

    What Would Cause My Whole House Filter to Be Leaking at the Filter Housing?

    If your Filter Housing is Not Tight there will not be a proper seal. Check to see if the Filter Housing is tight and if not tightened.

    Your O-Rings are what seals the Filter Housing. So if you have Kinked, Improperly Positioned or Damaged O-Rings the Filter Housing will not be sealed. Remove the Filter Housing and check your O-Ring. If it is Kinked or Damaged you will need to replace the O-Ring. Otherwise re-position the O-Ring and reconnect the Filter Housing.

    What Would Cause My System to Be Leaking at the Valve Fittings?

    When the Whole House Filter was installed Teflon Tape Was Applied to the Fitting. If there was Not Enough Teflon Tape this can cause leaking at the Valve Fitting. Turn the water off at the Main Water Supply and remove the Valve Fitting. Re-Apply Teflon Tape on all male pipe threading used.

    Why is There Water Leaking From the Top of The Valve?

    When you have water leaking from the top of the Valve you have a Faulty Lid. Contact Tech Support at 1-800-752-5582 for a replacement.

    What Would Cause Low Water Flow and / or Pressure?

    When your Filter is Clogged it will cause low water flow and/or pressure. You will need to replace your filter to resolve the issue.

    Water Line

    Watts’s WH-LD Filter is designed to be installed on the main waterline servicing the house. It should be installed indoors where it is not subject to cold temperatures or long term exposure to direct sunlight. Watts Inc. does not take any responsibility for the plumbing of the system into the water line. All water filtration systems must be installed in accordance with local plumbing codes and regulations.

    Whole House Install™

    Caution - If pipes will be sweat soldered, do not connect into the unit until the pipes have cooled. Note: Fittings will need to be purchased for installation.

    Step #1 - Determine the size of the incoming water line you will be tapping into.

    Step #2 - Determine the pipe material (Copper, Pex, CPVC, or other)Note - For copper we recommend using brass ¾” MPT x (plumbing size) ½” or ¾” compression style fittings. For all other types check with your plumbing professional.

    Step #3 - Make sure water flow direction coincides with the “IN” and “OUT” ports marked on the unit.

    Step #4 - Make sure to use teflon tape on all male pipe threading used. Caution - Make sure not to over tighten threaded port to unit.

    Step #5 - Shut off main water supply and open a faucet beyond the connection to relieve water pressure.

    Step #6 - Determine placement of the unit. The amount of pipe to be removed will be dependent upon the type of fittings used. Caution - This unit must be installed vertically with the lid on top.

    Step #7 - Cut the water line where the Whole House Filter is to be installed. Copper plumbing needs to be cleaned & de-burred of any imperfections. Make sure the installation location allows for easy servicing of the system, including a clearance beneath the Filter Housing for Filter changes.

    Step #8 - Plumb waterline to system. Make sure that the flow direction is correct through the filter system.

    Start Up Your System

    Step #1 - Make sure the valve on the lid is turned to “FILTER”.

    Step #2 - Open a faucet downstream of the Whole House filter unit.

    Step #3 - Slowly turn on main water supply until faucet downstream is steadily flowing.

    Step #4 - Turn off faucet and check for leaks at your connections. Monitor for leaks for 24 hours after installation

    Operating Instructions

    This WH-LD Filter features a Valve-in-Head design. This allows you to control water flow through the unit without additional hardware.

    Valve Operation - See Label for Position.

    By-Pass - Allows water to continue to flow through the house NOT utilizing the filter.

    Off - Shuts off the water before the filter.

    Filter - Allows water to flow through the house utilizing the filter.

    Caution - In all three modes the unit will remain under pressure.

Watts Premier wants to make sure you are aware this Filter is designed to reduce the amount of sediment that would normally enter your home water system. Reducing the amount of sediment in your home water system will allow your fixtures and water use appliances to work better. It is important to change out your Filters at the recommended intervals as indicated in this system manual. When replacing the Filter, pay special attention to any cleaning instructions. Filter Replacement Procedure

    System Overview

    It is recommended to us a 50 Micron (304007) Sediment Filter.

    Note - It is recommended to replace your Filter every three (3) to six (6) months depending on your incoming water conditions. If your water contains more sediment you may be required to change your Filters more often. Failure to change the Filters regularly will reduce water pressure & flow. Visually check Filter for sediment or dirt loading.

    Filter Replacement Procedure

    Step #1 - Shut-Off the main water supply to the Filter Housing by turning the By-Pass valve to “By-Pass” or “Off”.

    Step #2 - The Filter Housing of the system can be removed by turning it clockwise (see Diagram Below). Use the supplied Filter Wrench to loosen the Filter Housing. Remove the old filter and discard.

    Step #3 - Clean the Filter Housing with a mild soap solution and rinse with water. Check the O-Rings and lubricate with one of the following: Food Grade Lubricant (i.e. Olive Oil); Water Soluble Lubricant (i.e. KY Jelly®) or other water based lubricants may be used. Caution - Petroleum based lubricants (i.e. Vaseline®) MUST NOT BE USED as they can do damage.

    Step #4 - Replace the Filter with a new one. Reinstall by turning the Filter Housing counter-clockwise (see Diagram Below) onto the lid. Make sure the O-Ring is properly positioned. Note - Hand tighten Filter Housing. Wrench should only be used to loosen the Filter Housing.

    Step #5 - Turn bypass valve back to “FILTER”. Check for leaks. Monitor unit for leaks for 24 hours after Filter replacement.
